Balinese

A trip we haven’t even considered became true today. Bali. Through the heavy traffic we make our way to Ubud, remote from the mass tourism and luxury hotels in Nusa Dua you can still find Bali of the old days. Our fabulous boutique hotel is right behind the monkey forest with view to the rice fields. Carry bananas for the monkeys, but feed them fast.

Anywhere you can see the ancient Hindu culture and houses built of red bricks with low walls to the street and a small temples. The doorways are decorated with folded green leafs, rice, flowers and incense daily.

At dinner we had the chance to watch a balinese dance performance in colorful and golden traditional costumes. The dance act comes along with an orchestra that pitches bells, drums and flutes together to a terrible sound of disharmony in trance.
